–DID YOU KNOW that Dooley Wilson – the film’s iconic “Sam” – couldn’t play the piano? Wilson was a professional drummer and all piano playing in the film was later dubbed.
–DID YOU KNOW producer Hal B. Wallis originally wanted Hedy Lamarr to play Ilsa Lund? MGM refused to loan her out as she was a player under contract with the studio at the time.
–DID YOU KNOW a sequel was initially planned and announced? Titled BRAZZAVILLE, it was to again feature Humphrey Bogart as Rick, and it would have been centered on the location of the Free French garrison mentioned in the last scene of CASABLANCA.
