Two of the industry’s most celebrated soul and R&B artists are making their St. Pete debut this November as part of a new musical series downtown. The Floridian Social Club (historic State Theater) has teamed up with Berset + Harris Entertainment for the LIVE ON CENTRAL music series, and its first fall concert welcomes acclaimed Algebra Blessett and indie soul singer Res to the city.
Hosted by acclaimed R&B musician Alex Harris, the incredible show takes place at the Floridian Social Club on Thursday, November 17 at 7 p.m. The show is a triple feature, as Blessett and Res will be rounded out with a performance by Harris himself, a local R&B and Soul singer and producer. Tickets for the evening are available here.
Blessett has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting new talents in the business. She enjoyed widely acclaimed success with her first solo Purpose and her work as a collaborator with Monica, Bilal, India Arie, Esperanza Spalding and Anthony David. Blessett’s most recent work offers a new and expansive creative vision, which she worked on with three of today’s hottest urban producers: Bryan-Michael Cox, Kwamé Holland and Shannon Sanders.
Res is a Philadelphia-based freelance soul singer whose musical style is a blend of indie pop, soul, and rock. She first rose to prominence as one half of the musical duo Idle Warship with rapper Talib Kweli. Her single They Say Vision was a Top 40 hit, reaching number one on several dance charts.
Live On Central is an intimate music series that features both world-class artists and local talent. It is in partnership with the non-profit organization Arts Conservatory for Teens (ACT). The show benefits the organization’s Creative Workforce Program which provides its students with experiential learning opportunities through masterclasses, apprenticeships and scholarships.
